No purchase necessary. One valid entry per pet, only one entered pet per photo. You must be 18 years or older at the time of the entry to be eligible for this contest. This contest is void where prohibited by law.
All entries will be published Friday, April 23rd in the Rapid City Journal Pet Celebrity 2010 tabloid and will also be listed on rapidcityjournal.com.
Readers will vote for their favorite pet beginning April 23rd 2010. First round voting closes May 6th 2010. The top 12 vote getters are announced online and in print on May 14th 2010 and will advance to the final round where a new round of voting begins. Final round voting begins May 14rd 2010 and ends on May 29th 2010.
The overall paid vote winner will be the 2010 Pet Celebrity. The top unpaid vote getter will be the 2010 Peoples Choice winner. All top 12 finalists will be asked to attend the 2010 Pet Celebrity event sponsored by The Rapid City Journal and Fish Here Pet Center on June 12th at the Rushmore Mall, where the top 3 winners and the People Choice winner will be announced.
The prize winners’ photos will be published in the Rapid City Journal and online at rapidcityjournal.com following the event at Rushmore Mall. The 2010 Pet Celebrity will receive a grand prize totaling $600 in cash and prizes. 2nd Place will be awarded a prize totaling $300 in cash and prizes. 3rd Place will be awarded a $100 Fish Here Pet Center gift certificate. 4th through 12th place will each receive a $50 Fish Here Pet Center gift certificate. In addition a trophy will be awarded to the People Choice Winner.
To enter submit a photo of your pet, along with your name, address and phone number and a $10.00 entrance fee to sponsor our Newspapers in Education program which benefits Black Hills area schools. Additional options for early bird voting are available as well. Please make checks payable to RCJ Newspapers in Education. All photo entries for the competition must be received no later than 5:00 PM Wednesday April 14th 2010 at the Rapid City Journal, Fish Here Pet Center or online at rapidcityjournal.com.
Voting begins April 23rd 2010. Readers can vote for their favorite pet(s) photo by submitting a ballot along with a voluntary donation to Newspapers in Education of .25 per vote.

Paid and unpaid votes can be submitted via mail or in person to the Rapid City Journal or in person at Fish Here Pet Center located in the Rushmore Mall. Voting ballots will be available in print, online, at the Rapid City Journal office and Fish Here Pet Center.
Odds of winning are determined by the number of entries and the number of paid votes. This is a voluntary donation to Newspapers in Education.
Rules are subject to change. In the event the Rapid City Journal becomes aware of any attempt to subvert the general intent of the contest or its rules, the company reserves the right to protect itself, it’s advertisers and customers from those persons who would act to change the intent of the promotion for their own benefit. Prize winners are responsible for applicable taxes. All winners will be required to execute a statement of eligibility, release of liability and publicity release. Failure to do so will render a contestant ineligible to receive a prize. Rapid City Journal and Fish Here employees are not eligible to win.
